VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), also known as internet telephony, cloud communication, or IP telephony, and allows you to make phone calls over your data network instead of using your analog telephone lines and premise-based equipment. VoIP technology can be used to deploy full-featured phone systems (Hosted PBX) and equipment like desk phones, cordless phones, and mobile apps. Analog devices and lines can still be used for calling; VoIP converts the voice signal from your analog telephone into a digital signal transmitted in real-time, sent over your internet connection and then converted back to analog to deliver the call to a standard phone or mobile number via a gateway device.
A cable modem, DSL circuit, or fiber-based internet circuit is required for our services and this service is not provided by Ironton Global (unless in the service areas covered by Ironton Telephone Company, please see ironton.com for more details.) We do offer recommendations for internet providers dependent on your location.
Absolutely. A process called LNP (line number porting) allows you to request that your current number be moved from your current service provider to Ironton Global. You would be required to sign a Letter of Authorization (LOA) and we submit to your current carrier to switch your number to us.
The process can take from 12 to 45 business days for most Internet Telephony Service Providers (ITSPs) because they use 3rd party aggregators to do the actual porting. Since Ironton Global has its own dedicated porting department and is a licensed CLEC in 15 states, we can reduce the porting time in most cases to 5 to 10 business days to deliver an overall better service experience without any disruption of service.
A broadband (high-speed Internet) connection, a VoIP/SIP-based phone or a type of ATA is required.
Yes, Ironton Global can provide native SIP trunking for phone systems capable and licensed correctly, or Ironton can ship or professionally install ATA or Adtran gateways for both SIP to POTS and SIP to PRI capabilities. There are many different types of gateways to address various configurations so please ask your authorized Ironton Global representative for more information.
Ironton Global supports products from many of the major VoIP and SIP phone manufacturers, however, if you are using another Hosted PBX service provider and wish to switch to our services, we will be required to manually reprogram your phone to work on our network.
Ironton Global recommends using a dedicated high-speed Internet connection to guarantee call quality and an overall positive experience while using VoIP. A wireless internet connection may be suitable and Ironton does supply phones with wireless capabilities.
In most cases, a standard SIP endpoint (phone) will use anywhere between 40k and 60K of bandwidth per call. Since Ironton Global supports High Definition phone calls, we recommend that businesses allocate 85K of bandwidth per call to ensure call quality remains excellent.
Yes, this is possible by using an ATA in between the cordless digital phone and the Internet connection to convert the analog phone to SIP. All the calling features such as caller ID, three-way calling, star code functionality and voice mail will be available.
No, our VoIP phone sets can be used at any location you have a computer with a wired internet connection. All of our products support multiple Ethernet inputs so that your connection can go to the phone and then to your computer. The computer is not required to be on to make calls over the SIP phone.
SIP (Session Initiated Protocol) is the protocol utilized by devices to transfer voice and video calls over Internet Protocol (IP). SIP Trunking and SIP Trunks are common terms used to describe the equivalent of analog phone lines (POTS) in the VoIP world.
Most ITSP’s charge a flat-rate calling plan per extension. Ironton Global’s service takes the approach of charging a low price per extension and then only charging for the SIP trunks (VoIP lines) you need to make calls. This gives you the flexibility to decide how many SIP trunks your home or business needs and allows you to keep costs affordable.
Ironton uses private and secure IP circuits to nationwide network facilities to connect calls, providing for better Quality of Service (QoS) and a better overall calling experience. Unlike the majority of our competition, we do not use the public Internet as the primary route to transfer our customer’s calls. Redundancy between our telephone switches allows call completion to happen over our dedicated TDM network.
We have many different calling plans, including unlimited domestic and metered calling plans that are billed based on usage. Our service plans are some of the most flexible and comprehensive in the industry and we’ve created service plans that are cost-effective coupled with superior quality.
Our Auto Attendant offers flexibility and advanced call routing either for a single site business or multiple locations, complete with dial-by-name directories. All greetings are recorded in-house on professional recording equipment.
We offer integrated disaster recovery with all SIP trunking and Hosted PBX services, so if a call cannot complete, we will automatically route calls to a secondary number, such as another business location, answering service or even a mobile phone. Please be aware that these services are dependent on your network equipment and cellular phone provider’s ability to complete the call, so testing with these providers is recommended. If your phone system is mission-critical, we suggest that our business customers connect a second Internet circuit from a separate service provider for redundancy.
Ironton Global’s audio conferencing is high quality and very flexible. We offer all the latest functionality including music on hold, participant and moderator passcodes, announce callers, call recording and multiple DID’s associated to one conference sphere for local calling access.
Ironton Global offers direct installation and training within our tri-state service area that includes PA, NY and NJ. Outside these areas, authorized Ironton Global agents and resellers are always available to offer professional installation and training services across the US and Canada.
